John Olerud was an integral part of the Toronto Blue Jays when they won back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. The #3 hitter on that team, Olerud won the batting title in ’93 with a .363 mark, and he also led the AL with 54 doubles and an amazing .473 OBP that year as well. In 17 seasons he hit .295, was a two-time All-Star and won three Gold Gloves for his fielding at first base.
A pitcher in college, Olerud switched to the infield in the minor leagues. He wore a batting helmet while playing the field because he had an aneurysm as a teenager.
