Randy Choate

Chaote is the definitive left handed relief specialist designed to come in and face just one batter, or a LOOGY (Lefty Only One Guy). In a 12-year career that was still plugging along in 2012, the southpaw has averaged close to 8 K’s per nine innings pitched, and he’s served his role for two different teams that have been to the post-season.

In 2011, the left-hander added a sidearm delivery to his repertoire, an effort to enhance his value in the big leagues.

Choate gave up four runs (though only one was earned) in the fourth inning of Game One of the 2001 World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
